Truck Driver/Equipment Mover
JOB DESCRIPTION
Equipment movers are responsible for transporting produce from the first point of process to a predesignated cooling facility, transporting packing materials between the company’s carton yard and harvest locations, and transferring harvest machinery between fields. Drivers must be able to pull trailers ranging from 20 feet to 53 feet, including doubles, while obeying all DOT regulations and company policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and DOT medical certificate.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and document vehicle condition.
- Safely load, unload, and secure loads in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Transport produce, materials, and equipment between designated locations.
- Pick up and deliver empty materials as needed.
- Maintain and care for driver equipment (e.g., v-boards, tarps, ropes, pallets).
- Accurately complete driving logs and equipment movement reports.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, supervisors, and plant personnel.
- Follow all safety standards and vehicle operation procedures.
- Cross-train and assist other staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILL / QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- 3–5 years of experience in produce and equipment transportation preferred.
- Ability to operate tractors, harvest machines, and trailers safely.
- Ability to climb onto equipment and trailers (up to 8 steps).
- Must be able to work independently and identify/report hazards.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required; must be able to read, write, and complete DOT logbooks.
- Familiarity with basic technology (smartphones, tablets, handheld devices).
- Must maintain a clean driving record and insurability.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and team-oriented.
- Must comply with all company policies, including safety, food safety, and labor relations
