To provide our customers with the safest and highest quality products while also establishing sustainability priorities that maximize operating efficiencies in all business areas. We are committed to supporting a greener future through our farming, harvesting and processing operations.
Ippolito is a continuously expanding grower/shipper/processor of a wide range of fresh vegetables and we feel a responsibility to manage our overall environmental impact. In April 2016, Ippolito set an ambitious goal to become zero waste certified through Green Business Certification, Inc. by December 2017. Our focus includes two facilities in Monterey County: a value-added processing facility and a packing shed. We have hired a sustainability firm to help us develop a comprehensive program to achieve this goal through education, data tracking, and ongoing analysis of all our waste streams.
According to the Zero Waste International Alliance (www.zwiag.org), Zero Waste means designing and managing products and processes to systematically eliminate the volume and toxicity of waste and materials, conserve and recover all resources and not burn or bury them. Implementing Zero Waste will eliminate all discharges to land, water, or air that are a threat to planetary, human, animal or plant health.
