Maintenance Mechanic Level 1 (Traveling)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Maintenance Mechanic level 1 will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and installations on various equipment and machinery in the shop and in the field while keeping a high regard for employee safety. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical knowledge and the ability to work with electrical systems. Additionally, some fabrication experience is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform uptime and downtime inspections, lubrications, and preventative maintenance in harvest machines, tractors, trailers,
  • Perform DOT inspections according to regulations specified by FMVCSA, truck trailers and buses.
  • Troubleshoot and perform corrective work on all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Identify and execute improvements on equipment, documentation, work systems, and processes
  • Provide training and development to operators and other maintenance personnel
  • Research system and component specifications using equipment manuals, schematics, parts breakdowns, online information, and vendor communication
  • Dismantle and reassemble complex pieces of machinery in an efficient, precise and reliable manner
  • Operates cutting, welding, and various other fabrication equipment to cut, form, and/or join materials
  • Creates/modifies work orders and documents details of work performed
  • Submits parts requests
  • Escalate technical, procedural, and personnel related issues to direct lead or supervisor as necessary
  • Work with moral integrity on a consistent basis
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs other assigned duties and projects
  • Ability to Cross train on other duties to assist the rest of the staff as needed
  • Other tasks might be assigned

SKILL / QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School/GED is preferred but not required.
  • 3 years’ experience as journey level industrial mechanical engineering technician, preferably in agriculture or food manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years’ welding experience; fabrication skills preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to climb on to harvest trailers, low boy trailers, tractors and other equipment.
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated oral and written English communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle and be insurable work extended hours, weekends, and any assigned shifts.
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to manage priorities, workflow, and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to perform the physical labor necessary to work outdoors in heat or cold and wet environments.
  • Must be able to bend, crawl, work under and over equipment lift heavy parts
  • Must have a full knowledge of the use of electrical tools such as tester, multimeter, ammeters
  • Must be able to read and write in English and Spanish.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. throughout the work shift.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work while walking on uneven ground or during wet, slippery or under muddy conditions.
  • Must be able to safely utilize the required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to perform duties that require fine dexterity.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and abide to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to general safety policies, food safety policies, good agricultural practices, labor relations policies which include sexual harassment, discrimination, and bullying.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English and Spanish.
  • Must be familiar with basic technology such as smart phones, tablets, portable computers or other handheld devices.

Truck Driver

JOB DESCRIPTION

Truck Drivers are responsible for transporting harvest machinery between fields. Drivers must be able to pull trailers ranging from 20 feet to 53 feet, including doubles, while obeying all DOT regulations and company policies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and DOT medical certificate.
  • Inspect and document vehicle condition for safe operation.
  • Comply with all DOT rules and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate driving logs as required.
  • Transport produce, packing materials, and harvest equipment between designated locations.
  • Secure all loads prior to transport.
  • Complete repair orders for malfunctioning equipment.
  • Maintain communication with dispatchers, supervisors, and logistics personnel.
  • Participate in safety training and follow all company safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support productivity and safety.
  • Cross-train to assist other staff as needed.

  • Ability to operate tractors, harvest machines, and trailers safely.

  • Familiarity with basic technology (smartphones, tablets, handheld devices).

Truck Driver/Equipment Mover

JOB DESCRIPTION

Equipment movers are responsible for transporting produce from the first point of process to a predesignated cooling facility, transporting packing materials between the company’s carton yard and harvest locations, and transferring harvest machinery between fields.  Drivers must be able to pull trailers ranging from 20 feet to 53 feet, including doubles, while obeying all DOT regulations and company policies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and DOT medical certificate.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections and document vehicle condition.
  • Safely load, unload, and secure loads in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Transport produce, materials, and equipment between designated locations.
  • Pick up and deliver empty materials as needed.
  • Maintain and care for driver equipment (e.g., v-boards, tarps, ropes, pallets).
  • Accurately complete driving logs and equipment movement reports.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatchers, supervisors, and plant personnel.
  • Follow all safety standards and vehicle operation procedures.
  • Cross-train and assist other staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
